Vandeventer Black LLP is pleased to announce the addition of attorney James Levantino to the firm’s Norfolk office. Levantino’s practice will focus primarily on maritime-related issues, including experience with international disputes, pollution, marine insurance, personal injuries, and regulatory compliance matters.

“Levantino is a great addition to our firm’s legal team,” said Michael L. Sterling, Managing Partner. “He joins our firm after completing our summer associate program in 2020.”

Levantino earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law and was a member of the Tulane Maritime Law Society. He graduated with a Certificate in Maritime Law. Before attending law school, Levantino earned his B.S. from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, majoring in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation.

Levantino actively sailed under the authority of his Coast Guard license in various capacities aboard a broad spectrum of vessels in many areas of the maritime industry. He has experience onboard tankers, ro-ro car carriers, Offshore-Supply Vessels, and containerships calling countless ports around the world. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy Reserve in 2021 at the rank of Lieutenant.
