Vandeventer Black LLP is pleased to announce that attorney, Michael D. Pierce, has completed the LEAD Peninsula Program of 2020. The completion ceremony for the Class of 2020 was held in person, with appropriate face masks and social distancing, on September 17.
According to the Virginia Peninsula Chamber, the LEAD Peninsula “fosters opportunities for increased communication and cooperation among the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Through a series of initiatives and programs, the LEAD Peninsula program provides opportunities for recognized and emerging leaders to work collaboratively on issues of importance to the Peninsula community.”
Pierce is an associate with the firm, and his practice includes labor and employment law, workers’ compensation insurance defense, maritime law, and commercial litigation. He represents management and employers in legal disputes at the federal and state court level and also provides advice, guidance, and counseling in employment and labor matters.
“I highly recommend participation in LEAD Peninsula for any professional that works or lives on the Peninsula. I grew up in Hampton, Newport News, and Poquoson, yet there was so much about our business community that I was unaware of until the LEAD Peninsula Program enlightened me. This area has a rich history and is integral to both our statewide and national economies. And for the record, the Class of 2020 is the best class ever!”
Pierce is the current President of the South Hampton Roads Bar Association and is also a member of the Virginia, Old Dominion, and Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Associations. In May 2020, he was re-appointed for a second term on the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board by the Supreme Court of Virginia.
