Vandeventer Black LLP partner, Richard Ottinger, was recently named one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly‘ “Leaders in the Law” class of 2020. The “Leader in the Law” designation is given to attorneys who demonstrated a commitment to their profession by lobbying changes in the law, positively affecting Virginia’s justice system, and their involvement in the community.

Richard is also a past recipient of the Virginia State Bar’s prestigious R. Edwin Burnette Jr. Young Lawyer of the Year award, the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association’s Walter E. Hoffman Community Service Award, and the Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Sandra P. Thompson Award for outstanding and long-term service. Richard was recently included in the Virginia Business’  “Virginia 500 – The Power List” for 2021.

Richard is an experienced litigator in maritime, transportation, intellectual property, and commercial litigation. He often serves as Local Counsel for matters in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division.
