Vandeventer Black LLP partner, Richard Ottinger, is the new president of the Virginia Bar Association (VBA) for 2021. The VBA is dedicated to the improvement of law and the administration of justice through advocacy and volunteer service.

“As the new VBA president, I am dedicated to upholding the Association’s mission and values, as well as to continuing to contribute to improving Virginia law,” said Ottinger.

Ottinger is firmly committed to the community. He currently serves as a Director of the Norfolk Economic Development Authority Director and a Board Member of the Downtown Norfolk Council. He is a highly accomplished attorney recently included in Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s list of ‘Leaders in the Law’ for 2020 for outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Virginia, significant achievements through the practice of law, leadership in improving the justice system, and significant contributions to Virginia’s legal community. Ottinger is listed in Virginia Business’ “Virginia 500 — The Power List” for 2020.

Focusing on resolving business disputes, Ottinger concentrates his law practice on commercial litigation, including intellectual property disputes, tort defense, transportation, and maritime litigation, and complex trusts and estates disputes. He is a member of the Firm’s Executive Board and co-chairs the Firm’s Government Relations Committee.
