Jeff Tanner, Ph.D.

John F. (Jeff) Tanner Jr., Ph.D. is Dean of Strome College of Business, Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, Virginia. Author or co-author of 15 books, Analytics & Dynamic Customer Strategy: Big Profits from Big Data (2014, Wiley) was published in Chinese in 2015 and his textbook, Selling: Building Partnerships (2018, co-authored with Steve Castleberry) is in its tenth edition. Dr. Tanner has published 80-plus scientific articles in journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management. He also edits Marketing Education Review. He has taught executives in a dozen countries, including India, France, Malawi, Australia, and Colombia, and speaks regularly at professional conferences around the world.  Consulting clients include Cabela’s, Main Industries, and EMC, among others. Dr. Tanner serves on the boards of several corporations and non-profits. He and his wife, Karen, breed and race thoroughbred horses.


Eric Andreozzi

Based in Charlotte, Eric is a managing director with Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC (DCF) and head of its Industrial Services and Energy & Resources groups. Prior to joining DCF, Eric served as a managing director and co-founding partner at McColl Partners, LLC. There he served as co-head of the firm’s Infrastructure & Industrials group. His transaction experience includes buy-side and sell-side assignments within numerous sectors of the infrastructure, industrials, and business services industries, including energy services, engineering and construction, building products, commercial services, consulting, transportation and logistics, education and training, and rental services.

Prior to joining DCF, Eric was at Bowles Hollowell Conner/First Union Securities. Eric also worked at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, where he served in both its corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions groups.


Laura Markley

Laura serves as the Director of Investments at NRV, a Richmond-based Venture Capital firm focused on investing in high-growth companies. Prior to joining NRV, Laura worked in the financial services industry in New York City, including investment banking at Deutsche Bank and audit/valuation services for PricewaterhouseCoopers. She also worked at private wealth firm Ziff Brothers Investments, both in the investment accounting space and running the firm’s multi-million dollar philanthropy programs and family foundation giving.

At NRV, Laura assesses prospective investment due diligence, evaluates & negotiates investment deal terms, serves as the internal CFO to NRV, sits on several portfolio company boards, and engages with company CEOs to provide a variety of growth and financial consulting services. She has a Masters in Accounting from William & Mary and an MBA from Columbia University. She lives in Richmond with her husband and two children, serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching “Private Equity & Venture Capital” at the College of William & Mary, and volunteers in a variety of non-profit board work.


Zachary Petry

Zachary Petry is Manager of Small Business Lending at Virginia Community Capital. In this role he works with his team of lenders to deploy loans to businesses throughout the Commonwealth which are not being served by conventional lenders. Prior to this position, Zachary worked in San Francisco for a community bank deploying SBA 7(a) and 504 loans to businesses in need of nonconventional financing, as well as a microlender in Oakland mostly focusing on start-up businesses. He is passionate about educating small businesses on what a bank looks for when assessing risk, as well as financing those underserved businesses when it is responsible and prudent to do so. Zachary was born and raised in Richmond, VA and is happy to call Richmond home once more.

A Tax Partner in the Hampton Roads practice, Greg provides sophisticated tax planning and compliance for multi-state pass-through entities, C corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. Greg has more than 12 years of experience assisting companies in the real estate, construction, private equity and government contracting industries. Clients in these areas seek Greg’s guidance with industry-specific tax planning and reporting matters.

As an active member of the Firm’s Real Estate & Construction industry group and Government Contractor Services group, Greg specializes in real estate transaction planning, REIT IPOs, tax planning for S corporations and their owners, joint venture and partnership restructuring, multi-state reporting as well as federal planning and compliance.

Throughout his career, Greg has worked on diverse issues with his clients. This includes 1031 deferred exchanges, cost segregation studies, complex partnership structuring, partnership entry and exit strategies, tax minimization for mergers/acquisitions, a variety of federal and state tax credit certifications, and domestic production activity deduction maximization.


Keith Slattum, CRC

Keith Slattum is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia with more than thirty years of banking experience. He specializes in credit administration, real estate finance, commercial lending, consumer lending and bank facility acquisition/disposition. Keith currently leads the business lending effort for Dollar Bank’s Virginia Division. Prior to Bank @lantec’s merger with Dollar Bank in 2017, Keith was the Chief Credit Officer with Bank @lantec. He was active in all facets of lending including loan structuring, risk rating analysis, risk-based lending, non-performing asset (NPA) workout strategies, and Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) methodologies. He also served as Loan Committee Chairman.

Keith has the Credit Risk Certified (CRC) designation from the Risk Management Association, the only recognizable professional designation for credit and lending professionals. He is an Honor Graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia and has a B.A. in Management Economics from Hampden Sydney College.

Mr. Martin is regularly quoted as an industry expert in the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, Defense News, Washington Technology and other industry publications.

Prior to joining the McLean Group, Mr. Martin held financial advisory positions with leading investment banks focused on M&A for defense and government service companies. Previously, he was an Army Captain and commanded an Infantry Company in the Middle East. Mr. Martin is Airborne and Ranger qualified, and currently holds a Top Secret Security Clearance Mr. Martin is an Honors Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He received his M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.P.A. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

 


Dr. Patrick L. Huddie

Dr. Patrick Huddie began his career as a biomedical research scientist in the United Kingdom and the U.S.  He left the National Institutes of Health in 1991 to found an electro-optical engineering services company that provided imaging and laser technology to federal government clients, as well as to biomedical research organizations and the microelectronics industry.  After selling his company in the late 1990s he transitioned into investment management and investment banking.   Patrick joined the Westbury Group in 2008 to lead the firm’s advisory services to healthcare and life sciences companies, and to support Westbury’s services to Federal government contractors.

Dr. Huddie has a B.Sc. in Physiology and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 securities licenses.  He is based in the Washington DC area.

David was a Managing Director with Mariner Capital Advisors and also formerly led the investment banking practice at Triple A Partners, LLC. David served as co-Founder and CEO of BancAssets, LLC, offering senior loans syndicated through a national network of community financial institutions. Previously, he was Managing Director at Innovation Capital, as well as Managing Director for the Corporate Advisory Services Group at Monroe Moxness Berg, P.A., serving clients across the restaurant, hospitality, automotive, healthcare, retail, and consumer goods industries. Additionally, David served as advisor and Managing Director for a multi-billion dollar family office, investing in real estate, hospitals, medical services, automobile dealerships, telecommunications infrastructure, entertainment, and software technology. David has also held corporate finance positions with Dell, Applied Materials, and Micro-Media Solutions. He owned and operated multi-unit franchise restaurant operations. Early in his career, David led mergers and acquisitions due diligence and the integration of acquired bank operations and loan products for Bank of America.

David earned a Bachelor of Science in International Trade and Economics from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from Baylor University. David holds the following FINRA securities licenses: Series 79 and Series 63.

Matt Malone is the Founder and Managing Partner of Succession Capital Partners, LLC, a private equity company specializing in providing liquidity for micro-cap businesses. Prior to founding Succession Capital Partners in 2009, Malone spent three years as a Managing Director with Hunt Investment Corporation, the private-equity division of Hunt Consolidated. Hunt Consolidated is a diversified-holding company directed by Fortune 50 member, Ray L. Hunt. Malone’s responsibilities included opening and operating Hunt’s only investment office outside of Dallas, TX. The new office, located in Charlotte, NC, focused on consumer products and service investments.

Previously, Malone spent eight years as a Principal at Winston Partners, a private equity firm in the Washington, DC area owned by Marvin Bush. While at Winston, he focused on investments in consumer product, retail, and niche manufacturing companies.

Malone began his career as a Manager with Ernst & Young’s management consulting practice where he specialized in the introduction of strategic and financial improvement initiatives. During his tenure, he led the integration efforts of the NASDAQ’s acquisition of the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).

Malone was a Rotary International Ambassadorial Fellow and graduated with a master’s degree in International Finance from Adam Smith School of Economics and Finance at University of Glasgow in Scotland. As an undergraduate, Malone graduated magna cum laude and with Phi Beta Kappa designation from Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Managerial Economics.

Chris joined Virginia Community Capital in 2016 as a Small Business Loan Officer.  As a Community Development Financial Institution, VCC looks to lend to businesses in underserved markets.  Chris is responsible primarily for business development.  He spends his days networking and meeting business owners in the market, looking for those who are a good fit for VCC lending solutions.  Prior to joining VCC, Chris was most recently a Financial Solutions Advisor with Merrill Edge in Suffolk, VA.
