Business & Professional Licensing

We provide legal advice and assistance to businesses and individuals seeking to obtain or maintain licensure with state regulatory boards, such as the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, Virginia Board of Accountancy, Virginia Bureau of Insurance, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, and Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, including but not limited to licenses for various professionals, contractors, other trades and occupations, motor vehicle manufacturers and dealerships, and alcoholic beverage distributors.

We assist clients with completing necessary applications to obtain or renew licenses, as well as represent them in associated administrative hearings and appeals.

In addition to providing these services in Virginia, we can assist with similar and related licensing issues in other states.

Through our Professional Liability Defense group, we represent licensed professionals before disciplinary boards.

Additional business licensing through the Virginia State Corporation Commission, as well as business licensing at the city or county level, is provided by our Business Group. 

Our Business Group also assists with securities and investment licenses and registrations, including through the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Additionally, our Construction and Government Contracts group has extensive experience with assisting businesses qualify for various United States Small Business Administration programs, including the 8(a) Business Development, Woman-Owned Small Business, Veteran-Owned Small Business, and HUBZone programs, as well as the Department of Transportation Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise programs, and state-level programs such as Virginia’s Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business certification.
